Rules having no effect...

Hi,

New to GS... I have a project where rules seem to have no effect. I disabled ALL movement rules, the player can still move, I deleted ALL collision rules, the player still collides with things, I added constrains, nothing is constrained.

This is confusing the hell out of me. I'm closed and reopened the project 10+ times, I've rebooted 3 times and it stays the same. The odd thing is that changing actor images works perfectly, it's only the rules that have no effect!

Please give me some help here, I can't start the project from scratch again!

    Hello,
It sounds like you are editing your prototype actor, while your actor on the scene is unlocked. Try double clicking on the actor on the scene, and press the button called "Revert to prototype" on the top left of the rule editor. If that doesn't work, let me know.
    Good luck!

Hey, that worked! Can I ask (to save me reading loads on something which is hopefully basic) what did I just do? What is a prototype and why would I want/have one? If I should just google it then just ignore me, I'll take no reply as "Let me google that for you".. :-)

Thanks again for your help so far! :)

It's important to watch the videos on read the material. If you don't you will waste far more time on error ridden code. Do the due dillegence and save yourself a ton of headaches and study. You'll never move on to complex games without a good knowledge base.

In case @Zoyt does not get back to you right away on that inquiry, what you did is "reset" the on screen actor's attributes and behaviors so that they matched the original that you have in GS:Inspector: Actors

As @Fry above mentioned above, it would be wise to visit the knowledge base such as http://cookbook.gamesalad.com/tutorials There is great info for everything GameSalad (lots of vids). A strong knowledge of the GS creator and its features are going to save you many headaches and time later on.
