    No it means Samsung will have to pay apple to use their designs, which means they will have to redesign their new phones or pay apple a fee. Also Android will have to use new touch gestures or pay apple to use theirs. Bottom line, apple will be paid for the use of their designs.

    But Apple has been clear that they want a list of Samsung products pulled from the shelves.
    Honestly I think the ruling may have an impact in android. Remember Jobs when he said he'll go "thermonuclear" on Android, because it was a "stolen product."

    Android app sales are very low - don't know how in other countries, but in Poland, people buy Android devices because they can't afford an iPhone - later they download only free Android apps, and they offend iPhone owners (they call us swanks). If in other countries is the same situation, don't count on higher Android app sales.

    Yes the free model is killing app development. Soon people will find the app pool limited to big companies using it as an AD model to push other products or services. This is why I am learning Unity and moving to computer based games and will be using mobile app to support my computer game.

    nope. it will only mean more and more innovation from samsung to completly kill off apple. wont affect much on sales though.

    I wonder if this will even hold up on appeal. When you think about the entire notion of being able to pantent a gesture its pretty crazy. Does that mean that I am violating Apple's pantent when I use pinch zoom in my games? Can TSB take me to court over a piece of GS code that resembles his too closely. What about math formulas - can I pantent the trig formulas I used to create my Mr.Ninja behaviors?

    See what I'm getting at?

    Samsung is appealing this and I wouldn't be surprised if certain aspects of the current ruling are struck down.

    In a quick search you can find hundreds of stupid patents granted from gens to dinosaur bones. The think is the the patent office allowed this to happen and now the court is just saying yes, there is a patent for that and samsung is in violation of it.
    If you have big pockets and an awesome copyright lawyer i wouln't be surprised you are allowed to Patent a math formula.
