Question about possible movement side to side..

HI guys!
I have a problem.. I am trying to achieve something that seems, particularly minor.
Here is what I am trying to do!
I have 7 boxes in a row - basically a grid pattern on the whole screen that has 7 boxes in a row and a number of boxes (these boxes are squares)
Hope you understand so far..
I have an actor that I want to go from SIDE TO SIDE on the row..!
However, I want the actor to move from box to box..
How could I achieve this - hope I haven;t lost ya!
Please reply if you have no idea what I just said!
