I thought some folks here may be interested in this... I'm Kickstarting my game Behead the Undead. I've been using Gamesalad for all the development so far. I'm not looking to solicit backers so much as share the progress of the project and answer any Kickstarter related questions.

You can checkout the project here: http://kck.st/Qw1lGg

Thanks

looks awesome but why 10k? What do you need it for?

    @MjMDesign

I could easily see how he would use 10k to complete the game then market it. I know I used at least 10k on Project Boom, maybe more. There are lots of things he could do with that money. Yet again, if he is working alone, then I would want to know why he is asking 10k. But if he needs to pay a team to help with the game and he needs to market it, I think his goal is reasonable. Just my opinion..

    Cheers!

Yes I agree 10k is reasonable but If I understood correctly he is working alone.

I thought he mentioned marketing as one of the things he needed money for, so part of the money is probably budgeted for that.

I just watched it again, a large portion is going to promotion, which can be pretty expensive. Also, he needs 10-20% for a zombie shelter in his back yard. Knowing what I know about zombie shelters, he is not asking for enough unless he is making it out of cardboard.

So much money for such an easy game to make?

@BazookaTime 3-5k max for marketing and making a zombie shelter is not part of the game therefore he shouldn't use kickstarter money to pay for it!

@MjMDesign Two things...It is his game, so he will decide how much money will go for marketing. Second, I hope you are not serious about the zombie shelter, he was joking.

I think the game looks cool, I like the mixture of gameplay elements.

$10k is not a lot of money to work on a professional game full-time. Not even including marketing.

Behead the Undead looks pretty good, nice combo gameplay, as Paul said. Best of luck with the KS and the game, Skot!

    Thanks @TesseractEngine @BazookaTime

@MjMDesign the zombie shelter was a joke, which is why I winked, then posted a title card saying it was joke. Also, I was the only person working on the demo that was shown in the video but if funding is successful I would look to hire an artist and musician. That's something I should have clarified in the pitch. Thanks for the feedback.

@3XL I may have done a poor job conveying the scope of the game. The mechanics may seem "easy" to build, but the size and scope of the game will be quite large. Thanks for the feedback.

10k may sound like a lot but consider that roughly half of that goes to fees and taxes. Here's what the breakdown looks like:

1k in Kickstarter and Amazon fees

    ~4k to taxes

    That effectively leaves 5k...

~2k on marketing: admob, adwords, web ads, tv spot, stickers

~3k on labors: art and music.

I feel so stupid now that I said that :-/ :D If you are hiring others I completely understand.

Also sorry as it doesn't look to good for kickstarter but I hope you complete the game without it as it does look fun.
