Play Sound problem?

I don't know whether this is classified as a bug, but basically I am trying to incorporate a sound on my game. Since I used Garageband to make the sound, it was an m4a format which I realized only worked with the Play Music behavior. It also lagged when I used it in game (had about 2 seconds delay before the sound played). I then converted it into .ogg and used the Play Sound behavior, but now when I press play, I either have a complete black screen, or when I play the game many actors and things are missing.

This is extremely strange.
Does anyone know about this or how I can get around this?

The visual side of things - completely black screen or missing actors - hasn't anything to do with the sound file I don't think (although I could be wrong); it's more than likely something else happening.

If you've a two second delay before your sound plays, then either those 2 seconds are silence at the beginning of the audio file (in which case delete it in an Audio Editor) or you've another rule/behaviour affecting it playing straight away.

As for getting the file format correct (m4a or ogg) before you bring it into GSC, you don't have to do that if you don't want to (possibly your conversion might be slightly different from the one accepted by GSC and so it gives you problems); so just drag your file in as one of the two common formats, aiff or wav, and then GSC will convert it for you, depending on whether you want Music or Sound.

Do you have a backup of the file before you added the sound. If you named the sound the same it can cause an error in the XML file. I've seen this before. If you use time machine you can go back and grab the pre sound file. If not delete the file and output the file as a mp3. The reason it lags is a M4a has limited compression. Name the file different and import. If you have actors missing something is corrupted and I wouldn't trust the file. This is why It's important to have a working backup copy of your file. I use time machine so I can always go back and grab a earlier version.
