Exporting then importing tables with the tags intact

Does anyone know how to include the tags in tables that are exported and then imported after modifying them?
e.g I create a table. I put all my tags in to tell me what each row is for. I export it and add to it or duplicate columns etc. I then re-import it.
Now the tags with my descriptions are gone. Any way to keep them?
(I'm using Open Office)
