Special characters & live text

I was resistant to upgrade to both Mountain Lion AND GS 0.10.0... but now I think I am happy with just about everything. The new interface for publishing originally threw me for a loop, but I think I've ironed it out -- and it's growing on me. Publishing error free, just as it should.
The only thing I have noticed so far is that some special characters are still being rendered at non-retina, and ultimately up being displayed at quarter retina. Example:
☑ checkbox
The text "checkbox" is retina, but the checkbox itself "☑" still renders for 480px. Therefore, initially rendered at 50% retina, it literally becomes 25% during gameplay. That's way too small.
The checkbox and so many other OSX special characters are postscript-enabled, just like any letter or number. Any reason for why we are not getting retina quality here?
