Hi, as the title says, look out for the update of the puzzle game End of the Earth for the iPad – if you've got the game – the updated app now snuggled back into the iTunes store...

http://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/end-of-the-earth/id501390758?mt=8

I've sold bucket-loads; I can't tell you how heavy those buckets are with all that dosh (< "dosh" : UK English slang for those who don't know ;-) ).... where was I.... ah, can't lie any more.... I've sold enough to have a really good, and I mean a really good curry....for both myself, and my wife.... yes, that good....even better, not a takeaway, but IN A PROPER INDIAN RESTAURANT.... I know, hard to believe......

But seriously, I'm not too fussed, the game app isn't exactly earth-shattering.... ;-) so I didn't expect anything different... But still, I'm thinking I might make another update with a name-change: instead of End of the Earth, which makes the game sound much grander than it is, ( not to mention sounding negative) I'll call it Build the Earth Puzzle.... certainly no ring to it but at least it says what it does.....

So, change the name, and I'll surely be able to afford to go to the Indian restaurant AGAIN!

Just call it - "The perfect game to play in the Indian restaurant" :P

I would call it "The circle of Earth" - you know, from "The circle of life" - first it's destroyed, next you rebuild it, over, and over.

Haha! That is funny, Marcin! :))

I really like "Circle of Earth" too; worth considering, thanks. :-)

If I don't use that in the end though, hope you're not offended... (if you are, I'll buy you a papadum to make up for it... ;-) )

I have a great luck, that the best Indian restaurant in Poland, is in my city :) It's called Bombay, and the owner of this restaurant is a former miss of India - Anita Agnihotri. Her sister is a great start in Bollywood: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rati_Agnihotri
Under "Trivia" there's a word about her sister, and her restaurant in Szczecin :)

    Wow, that's impressive info. :-)

i do love a good curry too, but a lot of the curry houses in my hometown (a new Indian restaurant seeming to spring up from nowhere, every other week it seems) aren't anything like they were 20... or even 10 years ago; a shame...

For instance, there's one called Spice of India, which after I'd tried their curry, I renamed "Lack of Spice of India" ;-) Shame really; still, there's one not too far from me, about 5 miles away, that tastes just like it should, and like curries used to taste like....

I'll advertise it, it's worthy of it: Meopham Tandoori. :-) (A bit of a way for you to travel though, Marcin; but then you've got your "Bombay" anyway.... :-)

I'll check it out if I ever travel there (it's near London, or I did find wrong restaurant - http://www.meophamtandoori.com/contactus.htm ?) :)

If you like Indian food David, you should read this book: "Shantaram" by Gregory David Roberts - it's my favorite book :)

Hey, nice one, that's the restaurant; I didn't know they had a website!

Thanks for the book recommendation too; I'll check that out. :-)

P.S It's probably about 25 miles from London, about 2 miles from the Dartford turning off the A2... if you're serious, and you do ever go there, let me know, I can give you better directions – and Susan and I could join you there at the restaurant; it'd be really nice to meet you in person! :-)

Please do, and I could recommend places for you to visit in Kent as well, if you wanted to checkout further afield from London. :-)

change name? if it aint broke dont fix it

maybe the name is a major selling factor, Listen to reviews and feedback, make improvements , more features, maybe in app purchases and use the updates to boost and improve your customers satisfaction which ultimately will improve sales

ps for what its worth I think the name is very good

Thanks for your comments about the name, etc., @coolabah , that's much appreciated!

As I say, it hasn't exactly "taken off" but now I think of it changing the name's not going to make it do that either.... really pleased you think the name is very good, that's nailed it to keep it as it is; cheers!

I doubt I'll be doing many more improvements to it; I'm putting this one "down to experience" as an exercise in getting an app published and into the store.

I did think of sending it around for reviews at one time but thought no one would be interested in this modest offering so didn't bother.

    THanks again. :-)

Glad it looks interesting to you, hopefully the finished game will be too... [-O< :-)

Thanks for asking; I've almost "cleared the decks" with other (non-GSC) projects I've been working on, and ready to dive in to a whole list of stuff, a couple almost finished, most at least a quarter of the way there. So here is my plan of action (I can't - or daren't give any projected finish dates tho') and you'll see what other stuff I want to finish before carrying on with Ancient Ones Discovery:

    1) A simple shopping list (now to be called something else as I "lost" that title; but due in the next couple of weeks

    2) ****** Words (a pretty much pointless entertainment app but I still have to "get it out of my system" and I might be surprised that a few people might actually like it....)

    3) ****** Words (Based on the one above but different in style and content)

    4) Fast Finger Frenzy (dev. thread here http://forums.gamesalad.com/discussion/comment/331873/#Comment_331873 )

    5) ** ******* ****** (My "top-secret" surreal interactive multimedia app which I've been working on – on and off – for quite a while now)

    6) Alive Antique Wallpaper

    7) Boto and the Isms (platformer)

    8) Ancient Ones Discovery (point and click adventure, part 1)

    9) Ancient Ones The Factory (point and click adventure, part 2)

I've only just made this list recently, and I'm going to stick to it rigidly and not start anything else!

    ----------------------------

On another note, it's been "brought to my attention" as they say that while reading the first post of this thread, the person considered that I am making games/apps just to make money.

Well, if you know me, you'll know that is so not true. I was just jesting about having made enough money to only buy a curry.... If I make any money tho' - all well and good, I won't sneeze at that..... so just to underline, I meant to say I'm sad that my first app wasn't more popular, not because it didn't make much money, but just that.... that it wasn't very popular...... anyhow, enough of that..............(that's a lot of "thats) ;-)

@gyroscope he he that's a long list, some very interesting sounding ones in there, like Swear words (2&3) :P and the top secret one you have (is that the related to the video you posted a long while back - can't remember the thread now, but remember nostalgic postcard 1930s type thingy if I remember correctly? Or am I making this up completely lol. Notice a sequel to Ancient Ones you have already :). I always think so many great ideas, so little time. I'm terrible at sticking to targets as well, and always add another 50% on top, so if I project 1 month, it always ends up 6 weeks he he. Also don't forget to multiply the above list by the different platforms. That's going to be fun. ;)

I'm not sure where that impression is from, but they've obviously underestimated the cost of a UK curry.. I am still saving for mine. Speaking of which do you find 'prawn' curries more like 'shrimp' curries nowadays? I have a hard time finding prawns in a prawn curry, but maybe I haven't been to a very good one, but I'm sure the portions used to be bigger ;P The most amazing curry I had was in Tanzania though, haven't found one to match in the UK. Sorry I'm going off on a tangent...

It's too long a list really, but that's what I've set myself to do.... bit crazy maybe..... but I'll try to finish all of them.

    "Swear Words" : in a way, you're close! (But that's all I'm saying.... ;-) )
...and the top secret one you have (is that the related to the video you posted a long while back - can't remember the thread now, but remember nostalgic postcard 1930s type thingy if I remember correctly? Glad you remembered that one! (Gives me confidence that it's memorable, which can't be a bad thing.) That's no.6 on the list, Alive Antique Wallpaper. Here's the progress thread i started which is probably where you remember it from: http://forums.gamesalad.com/discussion/37223/at-last-1st-app-aaw-ready-in-march-progress-thread#Item_20 ...posted back in March....gulp....frightens me where time goes......and the way-out "off-the-wall" interactive multimedia app is....different....weird.... both those things....

I planned the sequel of Ancient ones at the same time as planning the first one, as it happens.... I realised that to have the planned game as one game would make the game file huge, so I decided it'll be split into two...
I always think so many great ideas, so little time. I'm terrible at sticking to targets as well, and always add another 50% on top, so if I project 1 month, it always ends up 6 weeks he he. Also don't forget to multiply the above list by the different platforms. That's going to be fun. ;)
So time consuming, isn't it; but sure is interesting and fun! Yes, any new ideas I have I've taken notes and stuck it into a folder.... I won't tell you how many of those I've got.... :-)
have you a list,@chobbiface ? It'd be interesting to read what you're involved with too!

I'm not sure where that impression is from, but they've obviously underestimated the cost of a UK curry.. I am still saving for mine. Ha! The great Indian shrimp/prawn scam! I know it well! All this talk of curries has made me want to eat one.... Indian Restaurant again next week I'm thinking....

The Tanzanian curry sounds interesting, I think you're right, UK curries can't match up to "countries of origin" in quality, I guess...

As for going off on a tangent, hey, no worries, they're really good bikes!! (Well, I thought it was funny! :-) )

You could make it a series of games with a name change.

    End of Puzzle: Earth

The series could be the end of puzzles and you could do a bunch of different end of scenario type games.

I'm on my phone right now so I can't look at the iPad listing to see if its even that type of game. So I appologize in advance if its way to off base.

    @tenrdrmer

Nice idea, Alex, and if I ever do a series of puzzle with an "End Of" theme that'll be worth serious consideration. :-)

    @LeonardDeveloper

Thanks, Jack! :-) (I'm guessing you mean if I manage to finish all of my projects eventually...)

Hey @gyroscope, sorry for the late reply, also had the login issues.

Ah yes! That is the one, the atmosphere really stuck in my mind at the time - antique wallpaper, not postcard, close but no cigar :) So what was the fate of your goldfish in the end? he he.

Believe it or not I have a list of 99 ideas (literally), but they are just random thoughts that I wrote down whenever they came to me over the course of 2 years. I would say 80% are not so good ideas when I look back now ha ha.

Aside from getting sidetracked with work etc. I'm currently working on a non-game app, about 60% done, it's medical based and I will share with the community when it's closer to be done :) I did start another game app *** World, but that's near the beginning and I postponed it while working on the medical one.

As for curries, I've discovered Thai Edge in Edgware (a Thai/Japanese fusion buffet) - unlimited curries (though Thai curries), sushi, generous portions and lots of other food for £14.99 (and not your average junk food buffet)! :)

That's a lot of ideas; I can't match that amount! Maybe some of your "not so good ideas" might be much more workable is they're combined, maybe...

Best of luck with your medical app; I look forward to seeing it nearer to completion.

As for your current game app, *** World, for the full title, my guess is Swear World.... ;-)

I do remember having a Thai curry back in the 80's and being blown away by it... (there's a joke there somewhere....) Thai Edge is sounding excellent value for money..... and with sushi included, you can't go wrong.... I'll definitely check that out if I'm in the area (worth a diversion, it definitely sounds like, if I'm North-bound M25ing it.) Thanks for the tip-off! :-)
