I arrived at a point, where I wanted a stable and working GS 1.0 with the most needed features rather than a windows or android or any other version of this.
I agree with Hunn, I'd like more features with iphone publishing like open feint, and more features like pixel collision etc, but if they're already working on an Android version, I'd still be very excited!
I dont understand the hype about the droid. Just felt like one of those clunky Microsoft HTCs to me.
DId a few tests to compare back to back and it performs but i just didn't like it.
It will be gone a few months anyways. Besides all the people looking for an excuse to convince themselves they don't need iphone's will give in since verizen just made the announcement
Granted if GS published to droid i suppose i woudl pick one up but its not something I lose sleep over since we have about 25,000,0000,000,000,000,000,0000,0000,000,00,0,0,0,0000 iphone users to sell to
you need to think about exposure with the android. Less games than the iPhone so you may make more money from that platform. Same hardware almost so should be possible to port GS.
From what I heard, an average developer with the Android can make more than the average developer for apple. Of course if your app gets big, it will be much more profitable with Apple, but overall general sales for apps are better with the Android even if you don't have a stand out app
I agree that android would be a nice platform to target, however, i would rather see an optimized feature rich GS that only works with Apple than have the developers split their time between getting feature pairty on both the Apple products and the generic andriod products.
TL;DR
Make GS awesome on iPhone/iPad first, then worry about optimizing for generics.
Love your passion for apple, I love apple too, but... we are here to make some money will having fun and... Android market have only 30,000 apps only vs itunes apps store that have more than 180,000, by now we almost invisible at apps store, we need to invest to much on marketing, for ex.
GS only need to make another game player, like iphone or ipad native terminal game player, Android is java based and can deal with embedded C language like objective-C the way that GS and other use too.
The first people that publish something on the apps store when only some apps was published like "Ocarina" or "Trism" have been making a lot of money at the beginning, but now, not to much at all, like Tweetie that sold about 300,000 copies on 3 months when apple put it on featured and after that : (((
My friend, my last point is that THERE IS NO GAME ENGINE BY NOW FOR ANDROID!!!
IT'S A UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY, BUT NOW!!!
There will be time to get better the GS in the near future, but an Android publisher its as very important than ipad right now.
I think we'd all be happy if GS ported to Android. There is going to be a flood of developers come on next month with Flash CS5, so competition is going to get thicker in the iPhone market.
The thing is, we don't want GS taking valuable improvement time right now to do this, we need the pressing issues addressed first.
The new iPhone for Verison and the iPhone HD are going to excite the market later this year... Android is a player, but not that much so.
@ carlos.. As of last fall...Android has maybe 3 million users where there are about 45 million US users on iPhone/iPod. The only ones using Android are google employees.
Android is not a priority for GameSalad right now (IMO). Optimization is...as Orbz statement very neatly defines.
Now according to your app totals: 30,000 apps for 3M Android users = 1app per 100users 300,000 apps for 45M Apple users = 1app per 150 users
Looks to me like the Andriod appstore is more saturated than Apple's. And if you add another 50-100M users to the appstore when the iPhone goes generic (opens to outside carriers other than AT&T) and you add in iPad (and iPad3G in about 2 months)...that ratio will look more like 1 app per 300-400 users...a much better ratio and make Android look like peanuts. Why do you think Apple's stock values are rising non-stop in the face of world economic catastrophe. Wall Street gets it.
No point in Android compatibility for GS until it has at least 10-15M users.
Correction... 180,000 apps for 45M Apple users = 1app per 250 users...an even better ratio.
Also... My understanding is that Apple built about 4M iPads and they are nearly gone. Their top line estimates/expectations were about 8M and the sales "exceeded expectations". So it appears...the new iPad sales in 1 month has outsold Android in over a year.
I would stick to the AppStore if I were you. But hey...once they get the bugs worked out and all I have to do is press a button to publish to Android...hey,...that works for me!!!
Thanks for your interest! Well, when you are talking about visibility the ratios are not a good metric or analytic, I told you, because I work with analytics all my day as part of my Business Intelligence consultant work. Let me explain myself, please: " I person is looking for something in a Big Mall, he walk across the building tired of walk and saw an store and another store, he decided to go home and back another day or look in another place less complicate, but in the way of going to home, at the street he saw a Little Street Market with only a few kiosks selling, but full of people, he maybe do not found what he was searching, but yes he can see ALL the stores in this time", when I saw the actual android market I see this little town market right now on when you can take a look for ALL the actual showroom, but it is impossible to see ALL of the actual apps store, its like a Big Mall on when you have a little store at the end of the last floor on where the people do not see you, because they are tired of walk across the first floors, but the little store at the street yes, they maybe sell less that the store at the first floor, BUT SOLD something and you NO." thats the problem!
Apple does not have an advertisement package on when you can buy a Big Banner with your apps, they put what they want to show, a good app or not, just what they want, and this is not good for us, another point is the new apps, "what is new?" and app that is really new or an app that has a new version? there are no difference! You may need to actualize you app every day in order to get the opportunity to be there and after that you discover that its a decision of apple, Oh My!

Actually, this was changed about a month or more ago. Updates do not make your app appear as 'new' anymore.
As for the rest, we hear ya, but I'd like GS to be improved before they even think about going android. There are already issues that are being overlooked thanks to the iPad rush, for example, and there have been problems there as well (orientation for example).
Carlos, if you really want to develop for both, check out Appcelerator or PhoneGap.
However, if you were thinking of making games, unless you are an experienced game developer, plan on multiplying your development time for a game on those development platrforms by 8 to 10 times what it would take in GameSalad (sans the Android support).
Weigh your trade-offs.
Even if you go with a different game dev platform that offers more bells-n-whistles, you will likely still have a fairly large multiplier in time due to having to handle much more at a lower level coding.

Although she is a self confessed ipod junkie
EDIT
i think this is the one he showed... I guess its not official but i think its getting close
Although Att could pull something out at the end still iguess

For now, I just have to do this:
/Ben Kenobi mode on, waves hand in front of you
This isn't the software you're looking for...
/Ben Kenobi mode off
