Hi All,
We are an app development & publishing company with several published iOS apps under our belt. We have a proposotion for GS-ers that we're thinking over so want to throw it out the board to gauge whether anyone would be interested. We must stress that this is not a post looking for any freebies, it's a partnership proposal open to anyone who takes an interest. Here's the outline:
-All our apps to date have been reference/music apps, we are new to games. We began developing games with GS but quickly established that it is going to take time for us to 're-skill' in the art & coding department and we want to short-cut that process by working with people already adept. We have strengths in other areas so thought that partnering would be the most efficient option and that our efforts are better employed elsewhere in the process.
-One of the things that we have already noted about games in general is that, even those with excellent art and features etc. often lack in the design and user experience - especially in the area of story and writing, this a particular skill that (clearly) few have. Our apps division is one part of a film company that has been going for a number of years, we have these skills in abundance and feel our games will stand out as a result.
-We are looking to partner with people who can code the games and work-up the art on a even revenue split. We will design, write, manage everything and handle marketing etc. We will also cover expenses that may arise.
-Why don't we just hire people to do this and pay at rate? The simple answer is that at the moment it doesn't make sense to. We estimate that it will take 8-10 weeks for us to become fully proficient in-house and do it ourselves. When thinking about not one game but five for example, if we hired we'd have to pay fees each and every time; but if we do it all in-house we'd only have to invest that 8-10 weeks once and every subsequent game wouldn't cost us.
-However, we have a number of other activities and time is at a premium, we'd rather not invest it in developing skills others already have if possible. We're also not greedy! So our ideal situation is to develop relationships in which we all bring something to the table equally and split revenues equally.
If anyone would be interested in developing a working relationship along these lines, please let us know!
