GS creator wont open project files on external HD

this issue is NEW.
i have my files that i use and work on EVERYDAY on my external HD. but today when i open the files, the creator just freezes. i redownloaded the creator, and the same issue is there.
so the workaround is too drag the file to the desktop and then open it from there. my HD is fine. everything works and other files open in their respective apps. is this a new bug?
