I'm sure some (most) of you have seen more than a "normal" amount of threads which now have over a thousand hits (one of my posts included, all of a sudden, has 1.5k hits even though it's now "buried" on page 3); but these hits seemed to happen overnight, or at least within a relatively short space of time. One thread has quickly acquired over 161K hits....

Some sort of hacking, a Vanilla glitch, actual viewing figures (a surge of Forums readers who are very picky what they read); or sure signs of an imminent alien invasion? ;-)

I'd be interested in your opinions; and any info on this from @saladstraightshooter included of course, if pos, thanks! :-)

I noticed an issue but is completely the oposite. Threads have five or more comments by different people but it says it has only had one view.

Only noticed it a day ago but.

Its not just IP visits, Its every time anyone visits it... Standard on all Vanilla forums, So if you have a standard thread with one question and 6 responses you've averagely visited that thread 20-40 times,

Hi Jack, thanks, yes, understood, but in the couple or more years I've been on this Forum, hardly any threads went over 1k, and to see this was rare, up until a few days ago....

Now all of a sudden there are a whole bunch of threads well over 2k, one particular thread, as I say, which is over 32,000... that is crazy and simply can't be right based on "past performance" of thread hits.

My last thread went from 170 hits or thereabouts to 1.3k hits in less than 24 hours, then in less than another 24 hours, to 3K... and even if three thousand people have visited my particular thread, why didn't they visit many others? There seems to be only 8....maybe 10 or 12 threads that have massively inflated hit counts....

But hey, if no one else is worried about this, not sure I should be either...

Just a sudden burst of bots or such looking at the site, GameSalad has only been with vanilla for 7+ months, So This really only started then - I've been using Vanilla on various sites for 4 yrs now, Its quite impressive software but whenever I've used it there has always been a huge boost in views, Whether its bots or a glitch I'm un sure,

It's got to be one or the other, surely, Jack. Especially as these number inflations have only happened in the last week at the most....

OK, without any official word from GSC, and no one else seeming bothered by it, I'm just going to shrug now.

I honest;y can't say, I'd say its a bug.... I've never contacted vanilla but you can get theme here if its really bothering you:

Heh, cheers Jack, but I'll just leave it as my comments here in this thread; I'm not going to lose sleep over it; I just thought other members would be more upset by it than it seems.... I also thought @saladstraightshooter might shed some light but perhaps he's busy... in other words, a Vanilla problem but an "attack" directed specifically at the GS Forums which might be dealt with eventually, we wait to see...

PS One particular thread – albeit very popular – now has over half a million hits.... if that's for real, I've never seen anything remotely like it in two and a half years....
