Good day all

One thing that has gotten me a bit worried and confused is the camera/screen size of an iPhone game.

So I can be certain, which way are you meant to use for retina display?

We are currently have two builds of the game, one using 960x640 without the retina independence checked. And one 480x320 with retina independence checked.

Which do I choose or are they both wrong ? Can someone please explain!

All the best

480x320 is the screen dimension of the device. Your project needs to be the same. In order to have retina graphics, you have resolution independence checked, and you just make all of your graphics double the size you need them to be onscreen. For instance, if you know an actor is going to be 128x128 onscreen, your graphic needs to be 256x256, and GameSalad will handle the rest for you. Just make sure resolution independence is checked.

    Great thanks @SlickZero

So the camera size has to be 480x320?

    Well thats awkward

Thanks @carlblanchet for pointing that out, however because that was way back in April, has GS added the independence after that?

So I quess the question still remains.

If you are designing for iPhone, just use the default project settings (landscape or portrait), click resolution independence, and make all of your graphics twice the size they will need to be onscreen.

If you want some room offscreen for actors and such, then go into "Scene" and change the "size" to give you some working room. As long as you don't have an actor moving around controlling the camera. My current game is set up for Resolution Independence 480x320. Then i went in and changed the "size" to 480x640 so I can have the same space above the action for an area to house my offscreen actors, and such.
