Publishing new update - can some older devices be restricted from the update?

Hi,
I've made a big update to an app and it now uses up to 40% more ram. The previous version was quite succeful and I don't want to cut any users off who have 3GS.
Is it possible to restrict people who don't have iphon4+ from making the update?
Or should I just release a next version?
