It works fine on my iPod, so I want to submit it, I try to submit the game.app you sent and iTunes says "file must be zip or ipa"

I compress the file and try to submit and iTunes says "binary does not contain .app"

This is driving me crazy why is it so difficult???

Help? Please???

I used the publish option in GS

    What should i gdo different?
  • IntelligentDesignerIntelligentDesigner Member Posts: 517
    That's what I did, Mr T.

I used the publish button in GS, and GS sent me the xraycards, app

Then I zipped that when itunes told me "binary must be zip or ipa"

It's got to be something I am missing, but I cannot for the life of me figure what?

It saves the app file on my desktop

The app file has all the stuff I listed including the gameproj file although if you try to look at it in GS it is barren - the actors are there but with no graphics,...

I just did it again. GS publishes and asks where to put the app

I tell it on the Desktop, it tells me there is one there already
    I tell it to replace.

    It does.

The xraycards.app that GS creates has all the stuff I listed in it.

that is what i did. I right clicked on the xraycards.app that GS put on the desktop and "compressed"
It made a zip with the folder in it like i said...

    am I zipping wrong?

    Right click, "compress"

now there is xraycards.zip with all that stuff in it, but no app in it...
  • IntelligentDesignerIntelligentDesigner Member Posts: 517
    Thanks for trying bro!

Am I on the right track?
  • IntelligentDesignerIntelligentDesigner Member Posts: 517
I would think that zipping the *.app file would just compress and the *.zip would have only the *.app file in it... Should I forget the apple compress, and try a third party zipper?
  • IntelligentDesignerIntelligentDesigner Member Posts: 517
I just tried YemuZip and it made a zip that looks right

But itunes still thinks it does not contain "an app bundle" whatever that is...

dude, I'm at work so can't really help.

But please please please make a cup of tea, take big deep breath, and go look at the Wiki. There are excellent instructions there on how to submit to iTunes.

    READ THEM CAREFULLY.

It's a pain, but you can do it!

    Good luck!

    QS :)

Edit: Oh, and just for future reference, try not to make duplicate posts if you don't mind. It makes things harder to find, clogs up the front page and you're never sure which thread to reply to!

    Just sayin'

Something is not correct, I use the Apple compress Contextual menu (Right Click)

And it works just fine for me?

Sounds to me like a system issue.....

Did you make any recent system changes or apply the Apple 10.6.3 recently.
If so maybe your install is a little buggy, run the updater again and repair privileges etc....

Maybe do a diskwarrior scan, fix and repair as well if you have it in your toolbox.

Might be as simple as a corrupt .plist file somewhere.

What does the GameSalad Publish option return? It looks like a "myappname.app" and when I drag it to itunes it installs on my iTouch. The appp works there, so all is well.

Until you try to upload the binary. iTunesConnect says "must be zip or ipa"

So like a good citizen, I zip it.

I tried the mac right click/compress and I get a zip with lots of "stuff inside" (no app but lots of "stuff"). iTunes now says "no app in upload" I tried a zip app and get a zip file with the app in it, by itself (just like expected) and when I upload, iTunes says "no app bundle"

What is wrong? I've followed the steps carefully but still cannot upload...

What version of Gamesalad are you using to publish this app?

Something is off, but can't pinpoint it....

What I would do is start over

    Delete your provisioning profiles

    Create a new App ID

Go into provisioning profiles, under distribution, create a new one, download and double click to install

Use the latest version of Gamesalad to publish your app and see what happens

    I am on 0.8.4 GS

I've tried all kinds of provisioning profiles. The one I am using when publishing is specific to this app.

When you drag the .app to iTunes, does it install and play correctly on your device?

If it DOES, then you are using the WRONG provisioning profile to upload to Apple.

That is the Development profile that you are using.

You need to log into the IPhone Development Center, click on the Provisioning Tab and then click on the DISTRIBUTION tab, NOT the Development tab. From that screen, make your Distribution profile.

You will generally need two provisioning profiles for each .app, a development profile so you can test the game through iTunes and a distribution profile for the App Store.

Ideally, to avoid confusion, you should name your profiles something like this:

    yourgamenameDevProfile
    yourgamenameAppStoreProfile

Then, when you publish your game through GameSalad, you must select the correct profile from the drop-down menu.

How do you get the new provisioning profiles into the dd menu?
  • chosenonestudioschosenonestudios Member Posts: 1,714
make sure you download and install your distribution profile
  • IntelligentDesignerIntelligentDesigner Member Posts: 517
yes, I did that, they are all in my "keychain"
    GS does not see them
