iPad image size

I've looked on Apples Dev site but can't find an answer to he following...

Anyone know what the max image size for the iPad is?

For the iPhone it's 1024 X 1024 at 72 ppi, the iPad wants images at 132 ppi but how big can a scrolling background image be? :)

    you can still use 72 ppi for the ipad though right? or do i have to go back in PS and make mine now 132 ppi.

    I suppose if all else fails - someone with an iPad could experiment with increasing the size of an image until GS or the device cries foul. :)

    Yep - some guidelines on image sizes would be very very helpful - though it seems (from what BTT says) that whatever you throw at an iPad it'll just swallow whole ;)
