Just discovered a feature in 0.10.00 which had me whooping with excitement, really! (Well, metaphorically speaking then... ;-) ) How I missed it when this version was released, I really don't know...

It's the ability to crop images using Fixed image (which is working nicely now) but with the addition of Horizontal Anchor and Vertical Anchor... inspired, GSC guys, thanks so much; this is perfect for my major project that'll see the light of day one day (a surreal interactive multimedia app). I won't explain why this is so helpful but just to say it will be that - so helpful - very much so. :-)

So thanks again! And....whoop!!

Yes that is indeed a useful feature because it allow some really basic masking of images.

Hey! That is a nice feature. I going to start experimenting with it. Thanks for pointing it out!

You can use it with a sprite-map. Just tried it. The only problem is that there are only 6 positions. Top left, top center, top right, center left, center center, center right, bottom left, bottom center and bottom right. It would be awesome if we could set the anchor to coordinates so we could use more positions.
    A good find indeed!!

Err unless I'm missing something this has been a feature For like the last year. Your talking about image anchoring right? if so yep that been in there for something like a year. :) I haven't really been able to find anything really cool to use if for so I have not done any writeup on it. it was actually planned a couple months back. just could not really think of much to use it for.

Glad you like it guys! :-) Aaron( @tenrdrmer ) - I don't think it was in the prev. version but you're right about it being there all along in the months that 0.10.00 has been out! Hence my "How'd I miss this?!" remark! Perhaps I DO need new specs... ;-)

Without giving too much away 'bout my weird multimedia project, I'll be (and have been) using a lot of randoms for different screen layouts each time.... hence my excitement about something as simple as anchors that can be changed, to get more cropping variations. (Although can't be defined in the Rules, I notice, i.e can't be changed via a Change Behaviour unfortunately, even though they show up in the Attribute Browser.... but I'll use a workaround to select random anchor points for the same image in the meantime).

@gyroscope If your talking about setting the image wrap to fixed and then using the image anchoring attributes yes then they have been there since 0.9.82. I went back to see when the first time I spoke with GS about the Feature. it was actually oct 14th 2011 during a pre-release pre-view. it came out public shortly after. It would be substantially more useful to me if you could change those attributes on the fly. way back then it was said maybe after 1.0 they could do it cause it would take some major work to make that happen. No idea if its still in the plans though.

    Cheers
    Aaron

Thanks very much for clarification, Aaron. Well, what a surprise; I'm shocked I've missed Anchors for all that time (a whole year). (But still so glad I've found them at last). :-)

Yes, it'd be great to change them via Change Behaviour, I so agree... that's one to add as a reminder to the GS guys to the next "So what new features do you want in GS?" thread that someone's bound to start again in the future... ;-)

PS I called you Alex in my previous post.... whoops, apologies... I'll change that now....
