Why do we build in Arm6 instead of Arm7?

Hello, ive been wondering this for a while now but never thought of posting as i assumed Gamesalad would eventually implement it but unfortunately hasnt been the case.

So whilst working on Gamesalad for iPhone (with RI ticked), we build to the resolution of 320x480, once finished, it also saves the higher resolution project as 640x960.

Wouldnt it be MUCH easier, convenient and generally better, if we built our projects to arm7 (640x960) then once finished, it created the lower resolution 320x480 project?

Because sometimes when im building particular aspects of my project, my eyeball is almost touching the screen for me to see what im doing when working with very little actors and ensuring precision inside the scene. I love it when i come to building the iPad version because the resolution is over double that of the arm6 we build in for iphone so i can clearly see everything im doing without burning my eyes from having to be so close.

I would personally much prefer to build the project in 640x960 instead of 320x480, its quite surprising this isnt already possible (to my knowledge). Dont you guys agree?

Thanks

This isn't a solution to your problem, but here's a possible work around for you. If you have a Mac, (depending on your settings), hold the COMMAND button while SCROLLING your SCROLL WHEEL on your mouse, FORWARD. This will zoom into the screen. This is what I've been using to help out. ((You can find this under your mouse preferences in SYSTEM PREFERENCES)). Hope this helps in the meantime.

The problem is Its not a 640x960 project though. I was really hoping with the new UI changes they would add a Zoom on the creator but still unfortunately we are without that. I do understand your pain though. Have been many times I wanted to get a closer look at things in GS.

Oh and BTW armV6 and V7 have nothing to do with the Res. Its the processor of the device. And we still build to V6 when possible because their are users who have 2nd gen devices still. and the v7's start at iPhone 3Gs, 3rd gen iPods and 1st gen iPads. All of which do not use the Retina Display. Just wanted to clear that up for you.

    Cheers

There's also no architecture anymore in Xcode 4.5 for armv6 only for the new standard like armv7 and armv7s. I think that serious iPhone and iPod user have a later version than 4.3 of the iOS.

After 4.3 there's no support needed for armv6. So I also think that armv6 can be deleted ;)
