Android APK Signing / com.gendaigames.GameSalad error 3

I'm having similar troubles similar to a lot of other people with signing android APK files.

I have downloaded the SDK and updated. I have generated a keystore for my app and I have published and downloaded my app ready for signing.

At this point I select my keystore and enter the password, press return, enter the password again, then hit Next.

I'm then greeted with:

The operation couldn’t be completed.
(com.gendaigames.GameSalad error 3.)

I understand that code signing is a bit of a pain and signing in the past for iOS was a pain but once it is set up your flying. I just need a nudge to how to get over the final hurdle.

I have watched the video some guy made on youtube about the signing process and have followed the steps.

I am running Mountain Lion which has caused issues in iOS signing - yes I read the thread.

Any help would be great as I've spent many hours going over what might be wrong to no avail....

Just to clarify I am stuck at signing an Android App not iOS... just reread my post and might be confusing in that respect.

Magically the issue is fixed... not sure how but regenerated my game a few times and now it signs! Works on the Kindle Fire too which is a bonus...

I double checked the password and re-created several keys but am still getting the error code 3 Error when trying to sign the Android App. I'm following these instructions for generating the key: http://developer.android.com/tools/publishing/app-signing.html#cert

Any idea what I could be doing wrong?

That was it! Thanks for the tip.

I guess the feedback i'd have is maybe make a button that says something like "Click Here To Verify Password" or something. Pressing enter isn't clear. Just glad it worked.

I'm getting this problem as well. I was able to sign one game but one is being really stubborn.. i've done this a ton in the past.. i'm not doing anything different with this one..

the one question that I have is regarding the android package name.. i feel like maybe i missed something there.. it seems like i just type in something in there.. in this case its com.part12studios.klouds this is how i do all my games com.part12studios.x I mean i get it with iOS/Mac because they have the whole certification thing.. but it seems like android doesn't use this so why does it even have it?

The part i wonder about in this, is when does this ever matter? it seems like the only time i enter this is on the publishing web page.. i never see this verified anywhere else.. its not in the keystore file.. this is what i type in terminal (again.. done this plenty and it normally works but not for this game today)

keytool -genkey -v -keystore klouds.keystore -alias klouds -keyalg RSA -keysize 2048 -validity 10000

I've also seen this error in the past and i have seen it fail.. the magically just work.. but it seems like this time its being persistent.. but for the life of me I can't see what i'm doing wrong this time. I had a very specific method i followed and it's never failed me till today..

I've made new keystores (using line above).. i'm just stumped at this point..

NOTE: This game even HAS published to iOS and Android already using this same system (they are live on itunes, google play and amazon).. but it was done before the new web publishing system.. so now i'm making the game for the Nook. So all the more reason for a big fat WTF? :)

NOTE 2: ok this is really weird.. i can sign the OTHER game with the same keystore fine.. so its like the game itself just doesn't want to publish to android.. it seems to not be the keystore that is the issue at all.. the only other odd thing is that it seems like the download time is really almost too fast.. like the app isn't downloading properly. but the game runs fine on Mac so its not like the game is somehow corrupt or not right.. everything seems fine.

    Thanks
    Caleb

Any updates on the problem? I'm using the GS build 0.10.1 beta... the keystore password is fine but keying in the password for my alias is not... any ideas?! This is getting frustrating...
