New User Needs Help Pls

I have recently downloaded the new Windows Beta version of GS. Having never used GS before I went on the video tutorials where they say that the first screen I should be presented with after clicking on the GS icon is one containing basic game templates. Unfortunately this does not occur and instead i go straight into the option to build things like actors, scenes, layers etc. From here I tried opening the Dashboard option under the File menu but there are no standard templates contained within, just projects which others have produced. On trying to load one of these they crach the program. Can anyone point me in the right direction please?
