Is it possible to make a character hang from the edge of a platform?

Does anyone know if it's possible to make a character cling to the side of a platforms edge?

In the sense that like old Earthworm Jim, when you would come too close to an edge, he would fall, but then grab on to the edge of the platform where he would then hang until you either told him to pull himself up, or you made him jump off.

Does anyone know if there's a way to do that?

    yes, there is... its a little sneeky, but basically, you put an actor on the edges of you platform, and then when you char hits the actor, destroy you char and have the actor display your char hanging off, then when you jump, do an animation in the actor of your char climbing, then spawn your new char on top of the platform... and reset your hang off actor... simples....
