Image memory? 1mb going to slow down the game???

Its just the starting screen. but i used illustrator and exported it as png at 300ppi...not sure if this is right or not please let me know.
its just the start screen, but i would like to know around what sizes should the images be for the game to run ok.
the pixels are at iphone retina display size which i think its 960x640

All images should be 72ppi

Your images can be more than 72 ppi but your screenshots, icons must be at 72ppi.

If your images are more that 72dpi you will have problems!
