Retina-Resolution

Hi everybody!

Can anybody tell me how GameSalad deals with iOs-Devices that have a retina-display? Will games that are uploaded to the appstore automatically be adapted to any resolution… thus upscaled for retina-displays? Example: When I design a desktop-magazine with Adobe Digital Publishing Suit, I create it with 1024 x 768… and when creating the folio it will be upscaled to retina-resolution if I say so. But what's the matter with Gamesalad-created games? I just finished work on the Arcade-version of my game… and after testing it for a few weeks or so, I want to implement touchscreen-controls etc. For that I just bought the newest iPod Touch (5G), so that I could watch my game run on a retina-display. But then it came to my mind, that Gamesalad-creator maybe doesn't even support retina…

Looking forward to your answers – thx a lot in advance!!

Cheers,
Robert

Yes it does. But if you read the documentation, and see on your own project information/overview screen there will be the option for 'resolution independence' and that is the old legacy style of retina display (iPhone 4,4S). That is no longer an option with standard iPhone (iPhone5) as there are only retina display iPhone 5 and iPods etc. For iPad there is still the option.

You need to double the size of all you graphics before you import them to Gamesalad to make it work. This is all in the Gamesalad Cookbook which I suggest you read.

Thx a lot… to be honest, that's something, I simply did not understand in the cookbook. So I guess I'll have to resize a few files, no prob, since the originals are big enough. When connecting the iPodTouch (that's something, I'm still trying – I have a few problems in understanding this whole xcode/license-thing) to my Mac, will this show the final resolution… as it can be seen after being downloaded in the appstore?

Sorry, if I should sound too stupid… ;) I had no serious problems getting into programming a game… but this publishing/pre-publshing stuff really give me the creeps… XD
