changing color vs changing image

in Working with GS (Mac)
whats better for performance? every second my actors change color, maybe 30 at a time.. is it better to change image?

    Changing color, absolutely. Though, you could always test in viewer if you want to confirm.

    hmmm, you may possibly get better performance if you use images but thats 30 times the memory that will be needed to run that action. We may have to run some tests. I dont know how much processing power each different way takes. It'd be nice to know. But if you need to save memory, than changing color is probably more necessary.
