Using Sports Logos

I was wondering if anyone out there used sports logos in their game (eg. NHL, NFL, or FIFA). If so, were there any legal issues I should know? I was hoping to use FIFA continent logos (e.g. UEFA, AFC, etc.) for my next game.

You could call EA Sports and find out how many millions they pay for the rights to sports logos. Should be only a couple. :P (In short, yes, there will generally be legal issues)

I most definitely believe that sports logo's like the ones you stated, would be registered trademarks of their respective sport\company running the sport.

For instance, If you were creating some type of football game and referenced the UEFA\AFC logo's as some sort of division in your game, you'd most certainly be in breach of their trademark (unless you licensed it off them), and probably be sued from here to kingdom come for infringing their trademark.

It might get a bit muddier if you created a generic sports trivia or logo guessing game, and these were just apart of it along with various other logo's.

Best bet would be to do a bit of research or seek some legal advice before committing to anything with Logo's from big companies.

No, don't do it, don't even think about doing it without proper license from them.
