Hi there

Does anyone know what version of Xcode I would need to be able to preview my games on my iPad ?

I am running:

OS X 10.8.2
iPad3 (first retina version)
iOS 6
GS 0.10.1

Cheers in advance for any help.

Hey there! Welcome to gamesalad! Simply go here https://developer.apple.com and download the latest version of Xcode.

Ok, I have Xcode 4.5.2 now . . . . but I have got no clue as to how to get the GS viewer on to my iPad !

Is there anywhere I can find out about this stuff, a tutorial or something ?

Thanks in advance for any help to anyone who might know about these dark arts !

I found T-Shirt-Booth's tutorials on Youtube - there's one dealing with the older version of xcode and one dealing with the new version - the informaio seems to be spread between the two but you need to be a bit of a genius to work it out !

Does anyone know of a resource that slowly walks idiots like me through the whole process ?

Hi mate it's really not that difficult, this is how I just did it:

    1. Download the iOS viewer
    2. Once it had completed downloading, open the folder.
    3. Open the gamesalad viewer.xcodeproj file
    4. XCODE will open..
    5. Plug your iphone in and it should be available in the top right of Xcode..
    Basically it looks like this

"RUN(BUTTON)" "STOP" [GAMESALAD VIEWER>(YOUR IPAD NAME)]

    6. Make sure your iPad is selected next to "Gamesalad Viewer"
    7. Press Run
    8. The viewer should install in your iPad

if you still have trouble, I can post screen caps if you like.
    hope this helps,

Good grief ! I got it working !

Well that certainly isn't the most intuitive I'd done recently !!

Best of luck for anyone else attempting this !! There really should be a clear and concise and up to date guide for this kind of thing.

Thanks to carlblanchet & brendanzh926 - your help is appreciated.

    A couple of additional questions:

When I run something in my iPad, the progress wheel (the little spinning thing that spins as the scene loads) appears about two thirds of the way across the screen (Left to Right) and near the top - is this normal ?

Also what is the 'overscan' switch for?

    Thanks.

    You're welcome!
Yea the loading wheel likes to play games.

"Yea the loading wheel likes to play games."

I see ! Looks a little amateur appearing where it does, does this only happen in the viewer or does the actual app also get the weirdly positioned loading wheel ?

Cheers for the link to the overscan explanation.

Once published it's always cornered. I read on the forum that gamesalad might be taking out the loading wheel in a later update.
