command order.. does it matter?

hey all, just curious about the order of commands. i would assume that everything should be in chronological order, but i've heard things such as "place contrains at the top" or "rules are placed in order, top to bottom"... i have a table based rule that runs through about 50 times, but during the chain of command, it splits off in two (rules) or possibilities.. so im wondering if there are any general guidelines regarding this.. thanks in advance!

Good topic for a video. I will do one today as it would be too much to explain here but you are right in that the code is scanned from top to bottom.

If I'm ever in doubt, I used Log Debugging Statements to test my theories. The one place I've found some strange behavior is with Pause Game. Unpausing a paused scene and then trying to run a rule or behavior can provide some unpredictable results, as I described here: https://forums.gamesalad.com/discussion/39041/pause-before-doing-other-actions.

But yes, generally top-to-bottom is the order of things.
