GameSalad has stopped working

Hi everyone,

Just wondering if anyones experiencing this same issue.

Basically, I've made a game on the Mac, but am now working on a PC - I opened the project on the PC last weekend, totally fine, no problems at all - I built the project, tested it on my phone, GREAT, it worked well - now, for some reason, when I open the same project on the same machine, with the same version of Gamesalad, it either doesn't open at all, or, if it does when I click play it crashes and says ' Gamesalad has stopped working'!

Hmmmm, really weird and really annoying!

Has anyone else had this problem? does anyone know how to fix it? I've uninstalled the software and re-installed and exactly the same issue?

In I simple word----- HELP!

Cheers,
Chris

Alway be sure to backup your projects as the xml file can get corrupted, which sounds like the problem here.

    Hi.

I've been using GameSalad now for a couple of weeks, and really wanted to go 'PRO' (which for me would an investment).

But I really can't say it's worth the 299USD pr year when it's acting up like this. I have the same problem as you, Chris. I'm running GameSalad on Windows, and it stops working 5-10 times pr day.

Trying to restart the program, (without opening any project), it will stop and crash again. I usually do save my work all the time, but GameSalad should have an auto-saver (at least!) for the Windows version, if this is a common issue.

Also publishing work seems to hang all the time, if there are any large files in the project.

Any way to fix these things or any update around the corner, let me know.

Also having a similar problem on Windows. This is my 3rd week using the free version, and for the past week I've been plagued with spontaneous force closes every 45 minutes or so. Now, suddenly, the game refuses to run at all in the previewer and I can't do anything with the project files without Creator going non-responsive.

Anyone have tips on troubleshooting or workarounds for a corrupted file situation to avoid starting a completely new project from scratch?

Thanks in advance for any ideas or help!

I save separate files for each minor change I make. I'm the first to admit I'm a little overkill at this as I often have hundreds of separate files for a single app, but it means that at any point if I have any corruption or if make a silly mistake and then save over my work, I can go back to about ten minutes before that and open a working file and continue with it.

Once you have a corrupt file I don't know you can do. GameSalad Support may be able to help you but you may also need to be a Pro member to get that type of support.

Yep, this is best practice and a must. I used to use the 'save as' feature every five minutes, but that doesn't work so good for me these days and I have to physically copy and paste the last file I worked on, rename it and open it up to continue.

    QS =D

Yep when I was working on a game for 6 months it suddenly went corrupt and wouldn't open. An that's it I lost my game basically. So I became smarter and decided to always use the save-as feature every time I make a change. As gamesalad always crashes for me to. I use a PC.

And now at the moment I have about 800 saves of the same project :( but it's worth it in the end. Incase I make a mistake I can move back to say 798 and fix my problems ect.

An I don't think I'm that crazy for doing this but haha idk

Thanks for the responses and workflow tips! Lesson learned...if saving a zillion versions will let me keep my files from going corrupt then I guess that's what I'll be doing :)
