is it possible to save an attribute and the do a game restart and load again the same attribute???

so in my game i put that when the "action" scene starts it would record a score and then when its over it will just save it and check to see if it was bigger than the high score and it will replace it and when you click continue i need the action scene to be restarted so i added the restart game but i dont know if you put a restart game would it erase that saved attribute? how can i do the high score thing?
