Why do you make games?

I was watching an interesting TED talk today. It made me want to start being more articulate about why I do what I do.
So I decided to write a new 'about' page on my site. In short I want to create games that make people smarter. I'm sure it will take a while to really get there, as I'm still relatively new to making games. (Started about 2 years ago). But I think it's an interesting route to explore - blending fact and fiction or encouraging different thought processes for the player.
So how about you? Why do you do what you do?

But I like the idea of creating something new for people and games is a way I can do this with out having to invent the next big thing.

Funny fact is that I love Puzzle Quest, alto this game is using mechanics of bejeweled for battles, this game manage to create a stong feeling of a big world.
Until recently, a didn't understood that this is actually a need to create worlds and not a game/fiction/stuff. But then I looked really close at the games that I like/dislike, I've go it.
Shadows Peak is an atmospheric psychological horror that explores the dark side of a player.
