Please help me with this. I need a FREE simple graphics maker that will allow me to make my characters for my game. I am not good with graphics so it needs to be simple. also it would be awesome if it would save to the outline of the character instead of a box so that it will not regenerate the scene when the invisible barrier comes in contact with a deadly object, such as spikes or lava. If there is a graphics generator out there please let me know. Links would be appreciated. Thank You!

I am not quite sure what you mean by 'graphic maker'. I know some simple pixel based examples of creating sprite sheets based on color and combination of clothing elements bt te result usually is very generic.
I would suggest trying out Inkscape (in combination with gimp). Inkscape is a free vector graphic tool with a good toolset. To help with the learning curve I wrote a blog '2D game art for programmers' which might be helpful. I suggest ready from the earlier post onwards as they cover the basics.

ya I use pixlr sometimes it's pretty much like a basic photoshop
