Detect device??? 1st gen performance issue

I don't think GS can detect 1st gen from 3g version. Reason! My Gumball Copter gets way slow on third scene when lightning strikes on a 1st gen. Should I make a button on my app that removes the lightning for 1st gen. I've currently got it set to animate the entire background image and tried to do it so only the 2 lightning strikes are animated but that is even slower

Rebuild it using .8.4, there is an option to limit it to arm7 processors which is the latest gen ipod touch and iPhone 3gs

I was kinda thinking something like that but I just don't want to leave out all those millions of others that still have 1st gen devices. Wish GS had a detect feature

Anybody else. Should I bother worrying about 1st gen and put in a button that disables my performance dropping lightning animation
