Discussion: What do you preffer for Gravity? Scene.gravity? create the "gravity" in the actor?

Just wondering pros and cons of using the scene.gravity
or create some acceleration rules over the actor to create this "gravity"

What do you preffer people? why?

Im using the scene.gravity but i want to read your experienced comments about it :)

Thanks a lot in advance :)

I always use the accelerate behavior for gravity. That way, you can set different amounts in each actor if you need to, and none in the ones that don't. I like that better than having 1 constant gravity affecting everything that is in the scene.

Take for example if you have a balloon actor, and you want it to slowly rise in the air. If you had scene gravity, you would also have to have some sort of move behavior in the balloon that counteracts the gravity, so you basically have 2 physics behaviors fighting it out with the processor constantly, and that can make jittery movement, and is counter productive as fas as scripting is concerned. It would just be easier to have 1 accelerate/move behavior that slowly makes the balloon rise.

I prefer using the accelerate behavior in the actors because that gives me more control.

I'm not adding anything new to what has been said above. Take it from me, i've learned the hard way. You simply have more control over doing acceleration down (270) than the gravity check box. The gravity button can be useful sometimes i'm sure- but thus far, i havent found it yet. Not anymore at least. Hopefully someone will add a reason why its beneficial. I'm always wanting to hear new perspectives.

Thanks a lot guys, i was checking some gs salad examples from different people and i've observed that no one uses the scene.gravity and i see its a common practice :P jijjiji so i'll start to change gravity in my games for acceleration attributes, anyway if someone has something positive to say about scene.gravity its very welcome to say it, as anatomyofdreams says, its always welcome to hear new prespectives :)

    Thanks again guys :)

accelerate down for gravity. I normally reference the value to a game attribute though so I can quickly adjust all the actors in the game if needed.
