Active Layers, Multiple Select Layers, Changing Layers in Game

Hey guys... been looking through the forums and have found people with similar issue as myself and haven't really found a solution....

I'm trying to do something I thought was relatively simple but it's ending up a lot harder than i expected.... I got a square, rectangle, circle and triangle counter... I want to be able to drag and drop them and on select/touch, make them the highest layer so that they will be seen over the others when it is drag over them....

once they are all over each other, when i try to move the top later, on touch, it is grabbing all the shapes and moving them all at once (I think I may be able to add an attribute to determine which one is touchable - but this is assuming I can make the latest slected one on the top layer).....

loving game salad but this is frustrating me (yes i know i need to have more patience)..... I'm sure I'm doing something stupid and one of the expects in here will be laughing at me (the newbie)..... :)

    that's perfect.... been watching so many tut videos on the weekend but somehow managed not to have seen this one..... this will get me 80% of the way there.... i do have a few added complications but what fun is there if everything is easy :) thanks liquidgameworks....

    bugger.... the workaround seems to be ok if I have a limited amount of actors, however I'm trying to spawn (or duplicate the shape) when the user click on it so there will be multiple of the same actor/shape which makes it almost impossible to use this method....

    Just wish that there is a way to bring to front on touch/click..... who do i need to beg or bribe for this to be in the next release of GS ;)
