Easiest and cheapest way to test game on iPhone?

There's a lot of threads about it but I still really can't figure it out.
This is what I understood so far:
- Either through the GameSalad Viewer, but in order to be able to use it I need an iOS developer account which costs me 99€ / year.
- By publishing the project. I've seen that publish button in GameSalad, but I'm not sure, is that the same method as above or not? I'm confused… either way I heard it's a long process and I don't want to publish anything as for now.. (I still suck, you know?)
- By dragging the .app file in an iTunes folder somewhere: I don't remember which folder it was, but it shouldn't be hard to figure out. This sounds like a really easy method, however I heard that it doesn't work anymore for some reason. Also, I'm not sure where I'd get the .app file? Later I heard that I would need to publish it first, which leads us to point 2 again.
- By doing something really complicated with Xcode, so complicated that I don't even remember
So, could anyone enlighten me? I just want to quickly test my game on my iPhone, without going through hours of processes and without spending 99€ / year on it (I don't even know if I'll still be doing this in 2 months).
All tips appreciated!

However, if you do purchase the developer account, we have a tutorial on setting up and publishing your beta app through TestFlight. It is pretty easy - plus it gets your game on our device.

What's with the iTunes method with the .app file, why doesn't that work anymore?
Once you are set up as a developer with the viewer correctly installed on your iPhone (or iPad or iPod . . .etc) it only takes few seconds to pass your project over from your computer to your iPhone.
So whenever you are working in GameSalad and you think to yourself you'd like to see how something looks on your iPhone, you simply click on the "Preview on iPhone" button from right inside GameSalad (the button appears next to the normal green "Preview" button), a few seconds later your game pops up on your iPhone's screen so you can play around with it and see how it performs and looks.
