Iphone screen size

Sorry for this to be my first post, I searched and found this: http://forums.gamesalad.com/discussion/16713/setting-up-for-iphone4 and have also watched this tutorial: however when I create my background image for my splash screen, menu, etc at 960 x 640 (which I'm pretty sure is what I should do as it scales down) and then drag it onto my scene it is obviously much larger (as the scene dimensions in the attributes are 480 x 320) and when I preview it only shows the portion of the screen which fits in the 480 x 320 section.

What have I done wrong? Do I need to 'drag' the edges of the bg image so it fits within the 480 x 320 section, I don't think that's right as I would need to do it to everything so any help is appreciated, thanks.

Hi @verbii Welcome to the Forums.

As far as I saw after watching the video, it doesn't mention an important aspect concerning working with games destined for retina displays: in GSC, Resolution Independence needs to be checked, in the Project Info tab of the Home Screen.

Once that's done, providing all your images are brought in at exactly twice the size you want to see it on-screen, and at 72ppi, they will appear at the correct size when on-screen.

A tip for you: if you haven't got too far in your project, it's probably better to start with a fresh file, the Platform selected then Resolution Independence checked first, before anything else.

ah apologies it's the second one where he actually mentions it here:

    So i did that: https://www.dropbox.com/s/cxd7k0mv68exvr5/issue0.jpg

and then import my 960 x 640 but it shows this: https://www.dropbox.com/s/pnqo41wep5bdmgf/issue.jpg

rather than fitting within the bounds and if i test it i get: https://www.dropbox.com/s/kk4innyrtwkvyck/issue2.jpg

Which doesn't seem right, I'm just using placeholders atm until I'm happy it s working as it should.

Hmm, strange; (I didn't realise you're using the Windows version btw, but it shouldn't make any difference)...

I'm not sure what's going on there now; if you've set RI to checked, doubled the size of your images, images at 72ppi, it should work properly... maybe a bug in the Windows version but if it is, I'm surprised it's only been mentioned now... sorry I can be more helpful here...

So the above happened when I drag the image directly onto the 'Stage' and it auto generates an actor which includes that image. So if I set the actor dimensions back to 480 x 320 then it fits correctly, so whenever I add my images do I just need to reduce the actor (not the image) dimensions by 2?
