Scene Size (pixel x pixel) - Newbie question

I just found this program and am EXTREMELY excited to get started. But right off the top, I can seem to find any specs on size for my graphics. I found file format, PNG and I know 72 dpi for resolution, but where can I find specific size definitions for items such as Scenes and backgrounds?

It depends on the device an ipad scene uses the pixel rates from an ipad and the iphone from an iPhone

ok. I figured it was a standard. So I can just google the pixel dimensions of say iPhone 5 or iPad and use those dimensions, correct? Just want to be certain.

If you open a new project in GS (for the desired device) you can see the exact screen size dimensions. Open it up, open a scene, and then click on SCENE. Under the ATTRIBUTES tab youll see SIZE. Open that up and youll see the exact screen dimensions. Is this what you're looking for?

Awesome. That is exactly what I needed. Thank you so much.

My pleasure @regman. Happy i could help. Keep in mind those dimensions you're seeing are in fact the actual pixel dimensions of the device you selected. HOWEVER, that does not mean you cannot alter those dimensions. Heres what i mean by that- lets say you want your character to be able to scroll over to the next screen (like mario, etc.) you can increase the dimensions. So lets say i have a dimension of 480 width. Well that is in fact the dimension of an iphone 4 and below. However i can change the number to 960 and now i have more screen real estate. So when my player reaches the end of the screen it can now continue on to the second screen (all within one scene).
Now all of this is easier said then done. If you're new to gs and what i said above sounds good to you, take a look at how to use a camera in gs. You're going to need that. Also take a look at what retina display graphics means as well. Thats going to mean that if you had a character 64x64 pixels- you're going to want to actually make he character 128x128. Again, i'm not going to go into this because its not your question. But take a look at all of these things i said and good luck with your game!
