Artwork with ugly edges in game? help!

OK so I used inkscape and made some art for my games. HIgh pixel quality,very clear. BUT when I put it inside my game and shrank the size abit, the edges are like ugly and pixelated-ish.I dont get it. Normally its so clear , but when i put it inside the game, the edges become like that. on the side bar where you can view actors its still clear there, but when dragged into game screen... urghh please help me solve this prob. Thanks

I don't know about inkscape but let me walk you through what I do and maybe you can apply something similar in your work.
First i create my Truck's art. usually on a white background with black outlines for good contrast.
Then I use a 'magic wand' mask selection tool which selects everything within that outline.
Normally I can copy at this point, and paste (still in Corel) to make a new image with just the selected art. Squared off with a transparent background. but it will leave a bit of frosting outside of the Truck from the original white background. looks like crap..
so, I go back to the original selected mask and use the Mask Reduce tool. this allows you to reduce the size of the selection mask (brings it in on all sides by X pixels) and this takes the frosting out of the selection mask.
then copy and paste for a new image.. and ultimately a new actor.
1 other thing.. While GS "can" re-size imagery in your scene, but GS does many things better than image editing. I too have grown and shrunk stuff in GS.. the output is not always the best, I would recommend you nail down the exact sizes of stuff actors you want, and make your original images that size (at least the stuff that requires a proper appearance) stuff like platforms and clouds are not really detail intense..

It's refering to the image's resolution. On any new graphic document, you set a canvas size and resulotion. PPI, pixels per inch. You may also know it as DPI, dots per inch (in print terms, although it's loosley used to describe graphic resolution).
I've seen a few occasions where ppi and dpi were conflated and it led to some pretty ropey printed images (appearing in very very expensive annual reports) - and some angry clients.
But as you say, they are used pretty loosley these days - and it's doesn't much matter outside of print - 72ppi doesn't even refer to anything meaningful anymore, I doubt you could buy a monitor at 72ppi these days, iPhones, Androids and iPads don't display at 72ppi . . .
. . . anyhow, I'm just rambling now . .
