Free vs Pro, Mac vs Windows questions

ShaunEleryShaunElery Member, PRO Posts: 148
1. If I understand correctly, with the free Windows version of GameSalad I can publish my game to a private website to test it?
2. Also, with the free Windows version can I make a private app to test on an iPad without submitting it to the app store?
3. I need to go pro to sell a game in the App Store?
4. I’d like to go pro if my first app goes smoothly but, I want to know if the Pro Windows version can do everything that the Pro Mac version can.

Thank you

    1. You can publish it to GameSalad Arcade.
    2. You can't make iOS (iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad, iPad Mini) apps with Windows creator at all.
    3. You can sell your game in Apple App Store with free Mac creator.
    4. No, you can't publish iOS apps.

So if you want to make iOS games, you have to use Mac creator.

Free Mac - you can publish for iOS, and GS Arcade.
Pro Mac - you can publish for iOS, Android, and GS Arcade.
Free Windows - you can publish for GS Arcade.
Pro Windows - you can publish for Android, and GS Arcade.

Well I'm hooked on GS. I have about a grand to play with so after GS Pro I'm at about $700 for a mac. I'll have to make progress on my game to get my wife to agree to the purchase.

Just to clarify on question #1, The are on GameSalad Arcade can be private to only people I share with, correct?

    @ShuanElery

Free Mac can also publish to HTML5 and Mac App, (Windows can also publish to HTML5)

And by HTML5, it's separate from GameSalad Arcade; it can be anywhere on the web.

I would save the pro until you need it tbh, learn 1st and buy pro when your ready to release if you need it.

One last NOOB question for now. Can a real programmer take a finished GS app and work with the code to add functionality GS doesn't have? Or is it all compiled. thanks

I have a question. If I create game on GS Windows, can I edit it or open it using GS Mac ?
