Missing images and sound files

Just update my osx and gamesalad to current. All of my old projects can no longer be saved as or the media disappears. There really should be a warning on updates that DESTROY old projects. Any help would be great.

It's not entirely clear what the problem is, can you be any more specific ?

When I do a save as... my project does a save as, but removes all media. The project file size shrinks from 13MB to 2MB and all image/sound files are gone.

    !

That sounds like a pretty severe bug !

Is it only when you 'save as' - or does it also happen with a standard save ?

only save as. and seems to be only on old projects.

There's a crash in both Windows & OSX versions of GS that wipes all images/actors/sound files when the program hangs during saving. My solution: always save as, and do it to a dropbox folder so you can more easily restore the files it's wiped out, since dropbox will track any changes, including file deletions.

Are you suggesting taking media from the old project and coping it to the new project? Is this a cpu issue, meaning if the computer was faster and didn't hang, would it save as correctly?

Hmmm . . . I'd file a bug report, but that route might take a few months :)) so in the meantime (or until you find a real solution) you can 'save as' (essentially increment your work) like this:

When you want to 'Save As' - just save as normal, then go where you keep the file and duplicate it, increment the file's name (so ProjectXX 008 . . . becomes ProjectXX 009) . . and then continue working on the new file . . . when you want to 'Save As' this new file go through the same process . . save as normal, duplicate file, increment number, work on new file . . rinse and repeat.

I've run into this bug with old versions of GS Creator and it started happening again with 0.10.1.

A workaround is to copy the "images" and "sounds" folders from a previously saved (uncorrupted) project into the corrupted one.

    1. Control-click the file name of your GS projects and choose "Show Package Contents" from the contextual menu that pops up.
    2. In the corrupted file's Package Contents, you'll see that the "images" and "sounds" folders are now empty.
    3. Option-drag the old images into the "images" folder and the old sounds into the "sounds" folder of the Package Contents of the corrupted file.
