Replace Image

I'm trying to replace an image for an actor as shown in this discussion thread -
"http://forums.gamesalad.com/discussion/39105"

Where you drag an image from the library to the actor image to replace it. The new image replaces the old one without replacing the actor rules. The problem is that the old actor image still appears in the preview of the game even though the actor profile and scene view shows the new image.

I saved and quite and reopened thinking that might replace the preview game image. Deleted the actor from the scene and replaced it with the new image actor. Checked actor settings to make sure new image was same size as old.
Nothing worked, the preview still shows the old actor image.

Any thoughts?

Is your actor in the scene unlocked ?

Double checked and the actor is unlocked.

Just tired editing again and still have the same result. The temporary white square I placed as a place holder for the image. Just tried editing both the prototype and base actors.

Double checked and the actor is unlocked.
Look at the attributes for the this unlocked actor (double click on the actor in the scene).

Is it's image attribute unlocked (white, rather than greyed out) ?

image attribute is white and has the correct "new" image name. The image preview is correct (image within character build screen).

Image in scene build shows correct "new" image.

Switch to preview mode = old character image.

I've been tinkering with this for several hours now and still can't figure this out.

I did a player view and saw that my new image isn't tied to the actor element. How this happens I have no idea.

I can't see how to do an attachment for the forum. I have a screen shot where the actor image is separate from the actor element once game play is started. In game preview the actor image isn't even seen, the actor element (white rectangle).

Upload your screenshot to something like MediaFire/ImageShack/DropBox and then post the URL here as follows:

    < img src="URL" >

But without spaces after the < and before the >

here is the image I have from the play preview in the scene editor.
    image

You can see the image (the cat) is above the actor element (white rectangle). I thought it might be because of the file name being different. I deleted the image, renamed it, and then added it back. No go - image is still not tied to actor element.

Trippy. Have you tried adding the image by clicking on the + in the Library instead of by drag and drop?

Is this in Windows Creator or Mac? What version of the OS are you running it on?

Added the image by clicking on the + in image library. Then adding it to the character.

I also tried dragging, editing image in character profile, dragging image over old image in scene. Saved closed and reopened - Nothing works.

I tried did a copy of the build and then copied the actor, deleted the original actor, added the new image - same result.

Working on Mac OS 10.7.5 with latest GS version.

This is an image of the actor profile. The actor shows up but isn't connected to actor element.

Actor isn't locked and I can't find why this is happening or how this happened.

Care to send me your project file so I can check it out?

Also, is this happening with new projects you start or just with that particular project file?

I'll have to check some other files to see if it is happening with those. I didn't think that it may be the builder.

I can send the file for you to look at.

Just checked another couple builds and it seems that this is the only one that has this affect at the moment. So that nixes a problem with the builder and places the problem with the file or graphic.

Hmm, based on what you just wrote, it sounds like a corrupt file. If you have a working backup, go from there. If not, lesson learned I guess. :(

ugh, I did a save on the original build and not the copy. I very well may have corrupted the original file.

Well, I have all the rules and only did one small scene. Start over.

Lesson - build and save. Copy build for template and stick in safe place. Duplicate the file and only work on duplicate.

Trouble is - I knew that.
