hi
first i want to thank gamesalad team and i dont mean to Underestimated they work
it easy to use game salad and you dont need to learn single code
but
when you finishing your game and you are happy to press up the puplish
you will face alot of problems
not with itune connect
but with gamesalad it self
what you dont know that
you need to sign the app in gamesalad
and you will not learn how to do it .... if you are not good enough in computing
Unfortunately gmaeslad did not explain the way to sign the app
after that
apple application loader will not load your zip file
becuaese it must end with .app
so
why iam using gamesalad ....
is it because you dont have to know single code
you will be happy to test your game in gamesalad only
with out one single code
but
trust me
you need to be good in computing to face all this problems after you press the publish in game salad
thank you all

Signing your App is an Apple requirement. All Apple developers must have a developer account with Apple. Apple has very clear instructions on how to do this. This is not a gamesalad issue. Second you should have taken the time to read and understand what was involved in game development before just jumping in. Yes game creation as a hobby is for everyone but the business of game development may not be.

Hi @arabianwolf I can understand your frustration submitting your app to Apple; as you say, GS can be relatively simple and straightforward to create a game without any code, but the publishing process seems unnecessarily complicated....

All it takes is a bit of concentration though to take the exact steps needed for publishing, and once you've done this a couple of times, the process seems easier every time, if that's any consolation....

Here's some links for tutorials about publishing (there is a learning curve, but it'll hopefully soon click into place for you):

    Checkout the Cookbook:

    http://cookbook.gamesalad.com/tutorials/3/parts/48

    --------------------------

And one of the many tutorial videos by community members:

It's the signing process that keeps our apps from being pirated and our devices virus free. The problem most of the time is people confuse Apple's end of things with gamesalad.

It sounds like you are having difficulty in submitting your app to apple, not gamesalad itself. Have you checked out the cookbook, there are _very_ detailed instructions on how to do this, not to mention the countless videos by community members

I would say you wasted your time with game dev, period, because you chose to not do the work involved to correctly submit your app. You should probably be good in computing if you want to design and publish a game. If you not good in computing (or following instructions) I would suggest that you practice. Maybe you would enjoy designing pen and paper rpgs or something that doesn't require the use of a computer.

I would close this thread, but there's really no legitimate reason to. You are entitled to your opinion, and instead of saying you wasted your time with GameSalad, you should do whatever it is you have to do, to get done what you need to get done. You've come this far, it would be silly to give up on it now.

There are literally hundreds of people on these forums that could help you with whatever problem you are having. Post the problem you are having, and see if you can get some help. Watch the videos about publishing, and follow along step by step, pausing and re-watching things that confuse you.

Yes it requires computer skills, that's usually the case when you are working with computers. A mechanic doesn't open up a shop if they don't know anything about cars, or the tools that are required to fix them. That person couldn't even call themselves a mechanic. Don't give up now. Do whatever it takes to get you across that finish line.

So much we could say on this one. But nah.

It's clearly all GameSalad's fault. Shame on you GameSalad! How dare you frustrate those whom attempt to wield your power. [-X

Yeah I agree with SlickZero here, you're ALMOST there, you shouldn't give up now - there are tutorials on the app signing process and your member account says you've only posted 7 times - did you ask anyone for help on the forum? Or check out the tutorials? I'm not trying to bash you, I can understand your frustration but it seems like you went from zero to "this is a waste of time" before you gave yourself, the GameSalad resources or the community a chance to help you troubleshoot. Good luck though, just don't give up after all this work.

I've only recently crossed back over to GS (last time I messed with it GS was 2.0) but there have been lots of people who published with GS.

So my question is - why would GS make the process so complex to publish? Wouldn't that be counter to becoming a respected development platform?
Too complex = nobody uses it = GS team out of work.
Yeah, lets put ourselves out of work by not explaining this complex system we devised to submit an app built on our system.

    Makes perfect sense to me.

Wait. Stop. What is complicated during publishing? Entering your app name? Uploading your icon?

    Um,
    Giving your app a name.

I actually do find that to be the hardest part. I spend more time on app names than I do anything else.
  • RPRP Member Posts: 1,990
Yeah, what is so complex about this? I was not being serious in the slightest.
This has to be the easiest method of build to publish I have encountered yet.

I remember when I was first starting with Gamesalad last year and I was confused like everyone else was with the Provisioning and Submission process...oh waitaminute...I asked Google and all was right with the world again. ;-) When in doubt, ask Mr. Google.

Is Mr. Google related to Mr. ATM?
When I'm outta cash Mr. ATM gives me some. Well, sometimes. I sometimes ask for too much.

i remember when i started the signing process seemed confusing but with the right youtube video you realize its a 5 minute piece of cake. reading apples documentation is probably the worst way to go but i guess i grew up on youtube college.

You guys are so funny. Everybody knows you just pick a name of a popular console game and slap it right on your game. it doesn't matter if it doesn't resemble the game your using the name from it just has to have a good name. :P

@arabianwolf Several people have given you suggestions including links to videos and the idea that Googling is often a good way to find the information you're seeking.

Many people have successfully published apps using GameSalad and Apple Developer licenses. It's clearly possible and, yes, some people find it more difficult than others.

If you're still struggling, I recommend that you do something productive and create a new discussion thread with a very specific issue (explaining the EXACT steps you've taken and what did/did not work) and see if the community can help you further.

And honestly, your double-spaced text is driving me crazy. Guess it's just a pet peeve.
