Merging Gamesalad Game with Another Engines Game

Hey there Gamesalad,

I'm a new member here but I've been lurking about and gleaning knowledge. My big question is this: Is it possible to take a Gamesalad Game and merge it with another game? I have a team working on a Unity Development and I would like to use Gamesalad to develop a strategy/puzzle based mechanic to add to my already working game. I've seen some of the work done with Gamesalad and since I'm an Artist and a Writer and not a guy who works with Code or 3D, this would be perfect for what I need. Is it possible for my team to merge the two together? Or is Gamesalad code not compatible with any other Engine? I'm definitely considering Pro already based on value and ideas I've had. I just wonder if this can be done as it would save a lot of money on my end and my entire project thus far has been funded out of pocket for a year with no source of income besides what I have saved. It's been full time. I'd love to hear from you all. Thank you in advance for your replies.

Hi @ams1992 Welcome to GSC and the Forums. :-)

There is no way to merge a GS file or even a GSC originated binary file with Unity; sorry...

Thank you for the welcome. I appreciate the answer. Slightly a bummer but it can at least reduce time and give a 2D aspiring developer experience and insight for a job with my project. If I use Gamesalad I can sculpt out all of the necessary artwork, mold it together, build a working game, and then have it ready to view by the next developer so he/she could see the working mechanics. In that way this could be a really useful tool. Beyond that I have a bunch of cool ideas to work with. Looking forward to diving right in :)

Exactly as you said if you use unity, gamesalad would be great for prototyping your unity game in 2D. If I were you I would not buy pro if you are just prototyping in gamesalad but if you are making games dive in, there is a boom of features coming.

Thanks for the comment MjM. The game I'm developing is actually 3D but I thought it'd be cool to make 2D painted strategy/puzzle elements, like a board game with an idea I came up with. Besides that, once I understand more about the program I'll likely get Pro. I assume that'll be within a few months. I've been working on my game for a year now and like I said, all out of pocket, so at this point I've kind of chosen my industry. I'm 20, hoping it turns out well. I've never developed a game before or marketed, and I've been doing this all. Wrote out the level designs, the character ideas, the storyline, drew out ideas, and am trying to market it. Much more difficult and expensive then I thought it was. I'm excited though even if it's a bit nervewracking :P

Gamesalad would be great for prototyping that 2d puzzle and showing it to your programmers. For your game though since you put so much into it, never fall short on marketing. Marketing will get your game into the top 25 where it deserves to be. Just for a reference point I think it was 40,000 USD per day for being 25th place on the charts and 100,000 USD per day for being 1st place on the charts, but that really depends on how many people are buying apps that day.

For those who misread my comment you can make that much as far as I know. Marketing can be 100% free but require time and effort.

Lol I definitely misread it. Glad you clarified in PM as well as here. Very much appreciated. I thought I was missing something honestly. By misreading it, I interpreted that you had to buy your way into the top 25. I was definitely not correct on that fortunately but it did get me doing some interesting research. For that, thank you. I learned a lot about how the stores are organized and what works best as far as tactics go. Spent a good chunk of my afternoon researching marketing of Apps.
