Hi, I tried adding a music file for my game but it keeps saying the file doesn't exist. I tried both .aac and .m4a, is there any other files that gamesalad will take?

You can use standard MP3s. Just drag the file into the 'audio' section, and it'll ask you if you want to convert it.

Anything over 30 seconds should go into Music, below that soundfx.

    Hope that helps,

    QS :D

quantumsheep - you beat me to it thanks to an incredibly slow login...

I'll just add you can use .ogg too - I use Audacity to convert music/sounds.

Thanks, but is there anyway to stop the lag? With the music added it makes it lag abit.

never noticed a lag with music... even large files

Like fat mike said you can use audacity

If you let GS convert your file to ogg it probably is keeping fairly high compression rates

With audacity (pretty much a free simple to use version of Logic, cubase, sonar etc)
export to Ogg and use quality setting #2. Even though that is a low settings is will be fine. Setting 10 is meant to make Cd quality music so even #2 is better than most games and will reduce your file size tremendously. Even around #5 is close to Itunes downloads which are pretty good.

If you really wanna optimize you can get a more performance by making your files mono. there is an option "convert stereo file to mono" since a mono file is really just two stereo files.

If you think a lot of people will play your game in headphones and you need the stereo leab it on the music but make your sound effects mono. That a lone will increase performance and laod times.
