Hi All,
Me and my son have designed various iPhone Apps and games and have used GameSalad for a handful of our Apps. We mainly use XCode and Objective-C, but thought we'd give GameSalad a go.
We've created a basic Tank Game [Mega Mania], which we started in GameSalad, but have ported over to Objective-C (due to speed etc). So, rather than bin the GameSalad project we thought we'd share the basic game with you all.
It is very basic, but does demonstrate:
- Scene Changes
- Buttons
- Graphics
- Sound Effects, Music
- Dual Control Joysticks
- Parallax Scrolling (2 examples)
- Multi Animated enemies
- Multi Scoring
- Score tracking
- Lives, Hit Points
- etc, etc...
Obviously, the game is by no means complete, as we changed direction very early on.
Hope you enjoy the free Template.

can we also use your images in our games?
This is a good starting point - it's got a bunch of features in there which is ace. It's not a 'game' though. That bit you have to do yourself

My son (12) wanted to see if we could create a [Heavy Weapon] clone using GameSalad. Turned out we could, but I was concerned with the engine performance - thus we re-developed using Objective-C (3+ weeks development). We have since re designed all the graphics and of course added levels, bosses, bonus's, different weapons, guns, missiles, enemies etc..
To ensure there are no copyright issues with some of the graphic and music elements within the GameSalad project I would always recommend replacing the core graphics with your own thus making the game more your own, or at least manipulating them beyond the original base ideas in Photoshop etc.
We always create our own sound, music and graphics for our final software which we have done for our Xcode project of this game.
The music track for this game (Past, Present & Future 1) was written by myself and my son using Reason 4, the full audio can be found at:

I see you're based in the UK - would you be interested in a London meet at all?
I could buy you a pint to say 'thanks' for the template
Cheers,

I'm in Lincolnshire however. I do have family in London and will be visiting in a couple of months. We could meet up then, unless you find yourself accidentally crossing the M25 border and straying a little further north?...

Ended up trapped there for three years - NEVER AGAIN!!!
I've done something a bit wonderful with your template, as I was planning something like this anyway. But the template certainly kick-started the project

One tiny bug I found...you forgot to wrap the mountain background image...at the end it reveals the black desktop wash.
But I am sure it is just intended as a base...so no biggie.
Nice job and I'm sure the community will love it!
It's not a huge change. The main difference is I'm making multiple levels, with multiple backgrounds, new and different enemies and a shop for upgraded weapons!
(possibly. Jgary loves shops. I've been hearing him whine at me for A YEAR saying all games need shops... I had to give in eventually).
I can tell you what it's called though: 2 Minute Tank
I'll send you something

Change the .game file to .zip and extract the game project.
Thanks.

The sound tracks were produced by myself for the final Game (which was subsequently re-developed using an alternative method). To hear the Hi-Def audio i've uploaded them to the Sound Cloud:
