Sonic Style loops

Was wondering if its possible to make Sonic style running loops for a running/platformer style game? Short of strictly animating it of course?

    of course it's possible it might just be a little tricky. And are you sure you want to have loops in your game? that's one of the things that sonic is unique for so to copy or make something similar might be a little obvious.

    Well I wanted to have a car run the loop, not a character. So not its not a Sonic clone.
