I got a score of 17070 and beat the boss about 3 times!

One might say it was 'too' easy now, but you have to remember that we're not playing on an iphone... yet... and it may be harder to keep up a sustained rain of fire from your ship with just touch controls. So definitely test it out on there (which I'm sure you already are - what's it like on the actual phone? Does it start chugging at all with so many enemies on-screen?).
What I would add is that I only saw the orb ship once - the one that flies across the top of the screen from right to left. Include that a little more as the player progresses, and add more variety in enemies as the player progresses, and you'll be fine!
As I see it, 2 waves + boss = 1 level. Consider using that as a template, varying the bosses at the end of each level and introducing 1 new enemy per level.

- Boss now has Hit-point bar! (still need some positions adjustments - but works) - Player now has a visual shield in place. Enemy will bounce around it. Lasers do not penetrate. - Navigation enhanced for iphone. - Adjusted lives; now can only have 4 lives at one time. - Reduced graphic sizes to increase game speed.
- New Shield Power-up!! (5% chance of drop) Power last eight seconds. - Auto Fire implemented. Keep space bar down. Reduced fire rate.(rapid-fire power-up soon) - Boss now has Hit-point bar!! (need positions adjustments - but works) - Adjusted lives; now can only have 8 lives at a time. - Navigation enhanced for iphone. - Auto-fire now working on iphone. - Reduced even more graphic sizes to increase game speed. - Still having occasional flyby buttons on start screen. (please fix "move" bug GS!)
- New Rapped Fire Canister; will increase fire rate of any weapon for 6 seconds. - Reduced players default fire rate. - Reduced enemy fire speed. - Tweaked enemy power-up drop percentages. - Fixed Boss's Hit-Point bar position. - Major reworking code for PowerUps - Ugh! (thanks everyone for the help here!)

I managed to get 5 lives though... I picked one up after killing the boss.
Are the spacemen different to the ones from when you lose a life, or is there something else going on?
