Signing the app

I have had a bunch of problems trying to publish my app. First I didn't have my keys/certificates straight, then I kept get the same error but couldn't figure out the cause. Then I read that I might fix all my problems by removing xcode, deleting all my certs and keys and starting again. I did this and re-downloaded xcode. This morning I tried to publish again and clicked the sign app button, and it looks like it is doing something but then comes up with a progress bar that says app signing settings but it doesn't appear to be doing anything or making any progress. Does it take a long time to sign the app...or is something wrong? I am getting frustrated...I think I am in over my head ;(

    Well I figured out that its the universal build that is doing this. The ipad version didn't do this, but I have another error with that. ugh
