iPhone or iPad First?

Hey,

I think it's best if I try to make as many of my games for iPhone and iPad to get both audiences.
Although I'm not sure which is easier to do

Make the iPhone version then enlarge it for iPad
Make the iPad version then shrink it for iPhone

(The images won't be stretched they'll be made bigger so the quality is the same)

THanks

If you make the iphone version first, then when you increase the canvas size at least all the elements will still be on screen for you to see, otherwise if you make the ipad first and then shrink the canvas objects will be off-screen.

    easier to downsize im sure

I would start with ipad then just for that reason.
Also (just my opinion) i think its best to get your app in there now. there is still room for exposure as some categories don't even have the top charts full yet.

Better to be there before the floodgates open. Some people say its a waste but i dont see any reason in waiting until you have to fight your way up from the bottom.

It really depends on how you make your graphics
but if you don't hand draw stuff and use something like photoshop or gimp...
If you have styles on all your graphics or "shapes" you can upsize with no trouble either.

I think it is better to upsize the gameplay and screen layout. The graphics should definitely be made for the iPad and reduced for the iPhone. The smaller screen needs heavy consideration and then the larger screen will feel less constricting and should offer more ability to be creative with the layout.

I may standardise on 256 X 256 graphics and reduce. We don't know what will be needed in future.

Some elements such as line thickness or proportions may not be a straight 50% reduction from iPad to iPhone. Colours and detailed images may also look different.
