Reading Apple's App store Guidelines, it says: "Apps may not use protected third party material such as trademarks, copyrights, patents or violate 3rd party terms of use. Authorization to use such material must be provided upon request."
So as long as the music you are using is royalty free, you should be fine if you give credit.
Ok, well I just downloaded some techno from a website that has such downloads for free. I think that should be fine, if I'm not mistaken.
The downloads maybe free but it does not mean the music is copyright free. Make sure the music is published under a license that allows free commercial usage of that music by anyone, anywhere. Just cos someone else has ripped it off does not mean you can.
You must read the terms on the site that you downloaded your music, it must clearly reports where you are able to use it. Because it is free does not mean that you can use it for game development. I almost use a music for my game that was not licensed for games, it was a soundtrack from a movie, i found it on a site for 6$, i thought that i could use it, but to be sure, i send an email to the site and asked them if i could use it for a game, they said not, i could use it for a wedding video or something similar but i couldn't use it for a game. So be very careful and i suggest you to ask first of all the source of your downloaded music.
Could I provide the website if you would like to check? It looks like a well-known site and not just one that is a host for piracies.
It's not really a case of whether it's a pirate website (hosting pirated stuff) or a legitimate website, the fact that it is well known doesn't mean that anything you might find on it is free to use, lots of websites let you download music, which you are free to use in personal projects but need to be licences if used commercially.
Check out the terms/conditions on the site, you might be lucky and the music is free to use in commercial stuff.
